BRITAIN ORDERS FREIGHTERS
NEW YORK, ‘ November 7
The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” .says that Britain lias completed arrangements for the construction of 120 freighters at a cost of 100,000,000 dollars. They v. ill ]i3 manufactured piecemeal throughout the nation and will 'be assembled on the west coast at the rate of o'no a week.
The freighters will be. 300 K|-t : n, length, with 25,000 hoyse-power, giving them a speedl of 18 knots.
Britain is also negotiating for the purchase of 63 more freighters from the Maritime Commission and 80 io ICO others from private - owners.
