TENNIS.

MID-CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. NO' JUNIOR COMPETITION. Because oi an: insufficient number of entries the match committee of the Mid-Canterbury Tennis Association decided last evening not to hold a junior competition this season. The desire was expressed, however, that clubs should arrange as many friendly matches as possible. Mr A. M. Fergus presided. Preliminary arrangements were made for the handicap- tournament which will l>e hold on Saturday December 14 and Saturday, December 21. A County ranking ladder iws arranged and will be published shortly.

aLlenton to play riverside.

The Allenton Tennis Club will play a friendly match against Riverside on Saturday at Riverside. The Allenton Club will be represented by the following: M. Jary, P. Welch, M. Edmonds, B. Jary, M. Street, N. Upton, S. McElhinney, A. Hansen, M. Wellington, 0- Bathurst, W. White, L. McElhinney. Emergencies: J. Gray and M. Martin.
