FIVE MEN KILLED

EXPLOSION IN COALMINE. DISASTER ON THE WEST COAST. TWO OTHER MEN INJURED. (Per Press Association). GREYMOUTH, This Day. Explosions occurred at Kaye and Party’s co-operative coalmine at TonMile Creek at 9.30 this morning. Five men were killed. They were : Mr John. Kaye, sen., married. Mr John Kaye, jun., single. Mr Lino Colpo, married. Mr Frederick Williams, married. Mr Alec Mclntosh, mine manager, ,- married. The injured are: Mr William Burnett, married. Mr Adam Boote, jun., married. The body of Mr Kaye, jun., was recovered. The other four are still in the mine. The condition of the injured is not serious. They are suffering from shock and burns.
