KWANGSI ABANDONED.
REPORTED JAPANESE MOVE. ONE CITY IN FLAMES. V 1 - (United Press Association.—Copyright.) LONDON, October 31. A Hanoi report states that the Japanese have abandoned'Kwangsi Province. Nearly 7000 men have already sailed from Haiphong for an. undisclosed destination.
A Chungking message says that great fines all over the city are believed to portend a. Japanese evacuation of Ichang, an important Yangtse port and the gateway to Szechuan Province.
The Domei News Agency reports that Japanese naval aeroplanes bombed Shuitimg and destroyed military establishments, oil tanks, and more than 30 warehouses.
Tine Tokio newspaper “Hoclii” warns against complacent optimism about negotiations for a pact between Japan and the Soviet. It asserts that the Soviet is pursuing on opportunist policy, standing between tho totalitarian countries and the democracies. “It is well known that the Soviet is carrying on clandestine negotiations with England and the United States,” says the newspaper.
