INCREASED ENTRY.
THE ASHBURTON A. AND P.SHOW t IIEST FIGURE SINCE 1937. The final entry figure for the Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s Slioav to be held next Thursday, is 2485, the highest since 1937 when theme Avere 2515 entries. In 1936, the golden jubilee >of the show, there AV-as a record entry of 2860. The table of entries shows that all sections Avith the exception of one have been, Avfell maintained and; in some there has been a fair increase. The sheep section contains the biggest rise, the figure this year being 64 better than in, 1939. The 1 main entry is made up of Corriedales, Border Leicester's and Ryelands. The cattle section, which is slightly larger than last year contains a good entry of milking shorthorns and jerseys. Although draught horses are nob entered in such large numbers as last year there is a substantial rise in saddle horses. (Pigs and dogs and dog trial entries are about on, a par Avitfi last year. The only drop is in the general section Avhich is 44 entries fewer than in 1939. This can to, a certain extent be attributed to a falling-off in the support of the schools in, such classes as Avriting. The total entry is, hoAvever, a very satisfactory one and promises well for the success of the slioav.
