Air-Mail Services, * Trans-Tasman air-mail service closes at Ashburton Post Office at 5 p.m., Friday, October 25. Trans-Pacific air mail service: Next flight closes Wednesday, October 23, due San Francisco, Wednesday, October 30. Air mails within New Zealand close at the Ashburton Post Office: North bound—Monday to Friday inclusive, at 8 p.m.; South bound—Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 a.m. and Monday and Wednesday at 8 p.m. Overseas Mails (Outward). Mails for Australia and countries via Australia will close at the Ashburton Post Office at 10.30 a.m., Wednesday, October 23. Mails for overseas will be closed and forwarded as opportunity offers. Christina's Mails. It is not possible this year to furnish closing dates of Christmas mails for overseas, but the following information is supplied:—For Great Britain and Europe, suggested time of posting not later than October; America, November (last week); East (including Egypt) October; Australia, mid-December. Early posting is recommended in view of the uncertainty of transit time.
