ALARM IN AUCKLAND.

NAVAL SIRENS SOUNDED* EARLY MORNING INCIDENT. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, October 21. The prolonged sounding of naval sirens in Auckland at an early hour this morning led to considerable speculation and concern iii the city. When asked in Wellington this afternoon if he would explain the reason for this activity, the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) replied that a report had been received Avhich led to the belief that there Avas a possibility of an enenfiy raider having been located. The necessary precautions Avere therefore taken at once, but on inquiry the report Avas found to be Avithout foundation.
