ATTACKED IN THE CHANNEL. ONE VESSEL SUNK. (Received This Day, A. 50 p.m.) LONDON, October 18. An Admiralty communique states: “Whilst carrying out patrol on the coast of France on Friday afternoon our light craft sighted three large enemy trawlers. The enemy were immediately . attacked and direct,hits were scored oil the rear of a ship, which sank. The proximity of enemy shore: defences prevented further pursuit. No damage or casualties were sustained by oifr vessels,”
