POACHING ALLEGED.
APPEAL BY MINISTER. (Per Press Association'/. WELLINGTON, October 18. An appeal to employers to stop the practice of poaching employees from other employers was made by the Minister of'Labour (Hon. P. C. Webb). “My attention has been drawn by .manufacturers engaged in war work to the poaching of employees,” said Mr Webb. “This is a matter that could largely have been prevented by manufacturers themselves by a spirit of cooperation without unduly restricting the right of a worker to change his employment. It is necessary, in order to obtain the fullest effort of both manufacturers and workers that there should be complete mutual understanding. It is also desirable that this should be brought about without invoking the regulations, and I therefore appeal to employers to co-operate in order to prevent the practice of poaching which has given rise to the complaint.”
