ORDERED HOME.
ALL MORMON EL'DERS. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, October 16. All elders ,of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints (Mormons) totalling 34 have been • ordered to return to' S ! alt Lake City, America, by the Mariposa, leaving on Monday. All aye of military age and are suhjiect to' the American conscription law. The president (Mr Matthew Cowley) will be the only one left in New Zealand. He said that the evacuation was a matter of church policy. Within twk> months of the outbreak of tho war, 600 elders were evacuated from Europe. This would be the first time for 50 years that the church in Niew Zealand had been left without a missionary. However, tliei church was well established in, the Dominion, and would be organised under local supervision.
