OBITUARY.
MRS ROWLAND HAMES. Many Christchurch friends will regret to hear of the death- of ‘ Mrs Rowland Hames, which occurred recently in Auckland; Mjrs Hames was born in Auckland 75 years ago, and was the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs James Hutchinson. Shortly after her birth her parents went to Melbourne, where her childhood was spent. In 1890 she paid a visit- to New Zealand and a year later married Mr Rowland Hames, and for 40 yeajrs lived in the Paparoa Valley, North Auckland, on land that had belonged continuously to the Hames family since 1864. About 10 years ago, Mr and Mrs Hames retired from farming, and since then have lived chiefly in Auckland, but have paid long visits to various members of their family in Fiji, the King Country, and Christchurch, where they made many friends. Mrs Hami?s is survived by heir husband and seven children—Mrs R. S. Watson (St. Andrew’s Manse, Ashburton), Miss Inez Hames (Fiji). Mrs H. A. Dare (Reporoa), Mrs J. C. Fenwick (Hoanga), Messrs V. R. and E. R. Hames (Paparoa Valley), and B. R. Hames (Melbourne), There aro 10 grandchildren.
