TO PRESERVE WILD LIFE. MAY BE ESTABLISHED. WHANGAREI, This Day. The Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. B. Parry) is paying an official visit to Whangarei. Last evening he met representatives of the Harbour Board and Acclimatisation Society to discuss a proposal by the board that the harbour area should be declared a bird sanctuary. The Acclimatisation Society urged the closing of the area for a period. . The Minister is to-day making a launch tour to get first hand information. Mr Parry last night emphasised the need for measures to preserve bird life and expressed his willingness to create a department of wild life to achieve the object. Mr Parry 1 will go to Kaitaia tomorrow to open the centennial memorial.
