BOMBERS AND FIGHTERS.
SOME DEATHS CAUSED.
(Received This Day, 12.10 p.m.) LONDON, October 15
The Air Ministry and Home Security Department announced in a communique to-night: “There have been a number of attacks on this country today by enemy aircraft, which were mostly fighters in the first attack about 9 o’clock. Bombers also crossed the coast and a few penetrated to London. In London a certain number of bombs were dropped * in south and east, but the damage does not appear to have been heavy. The number of casualties was small, but some persons were killed.
“Elsewhere a few bombs were dropped but no serious damage is reported.” In to-night’s air encounters over Britain the number of enemy aircraft destroyed, as ascertained to 5.30 p.m., was nine. Ten R.A.F. fighters are reported missing.”
