SOLDIERS’ PARCELS.

SMALL ITEMS WANTED.

AN UNUSUAL APPEAL TO

PARENTS.

An appeal of an unusual kind is being made to parents of soldiers from Ashburton Borough who are serving oversea*. Ashburton Red Cross has arranged for the early dispatch to these men of parcels for Christmas, but it is found that the weight of the goods being sent leaves a deficiency between that and the amount that may he sent away for the same postage. Parents or next of kin of the Ashburton Borough men are asked to hand in to the Red Cross depot in Havelock Street not later than next Saturday morning small items that they might wish to send to their boys. These can be cakes of soap (in tins), packets of envelopes, or small gifts than can he used to make .up the weight of the parcels.
