BOBBY CALVES.
QUESTION OF SENDING AWAY. THE MIDLAND! DAIRY COMPANY. Speaking at the annual meeting of shareholders of the Midland Dairy Company yesterday Mr W. H. Staniland (Cland'eboye), the Company’s representative on the South Canterbury Calf Pool stressed the need for sup-' pliers not to send away bobby calves which were too young and immature. He said that to pass the regulations a calf must weigh 251bs dressed on the hooks.
The percentage of rejects always had air effect on the price to he obtained in the succeeding year. A calf should ,bi 3 at least four or five days old before it is sent away. The result of the election of two directors for Ward A was announced as follows:—<
It. Oakley, 506; G. H. B. Lill, 482; H. O. Aschen, 190; 01.O 1 . W. Amherger, 170. The first two wore ielected. Messrs A. Ward and G. Hampton were elected unopposed for Ward C. Mr F. A. Hickman was again appointed auditor. At a subsequent meeting of the directors Mr tS. P. Taylor was re-elected chairman and Mr J. H. Grigg, deputy chairman.
The meeting closed with a. vote of thanks to the directors and staff.
