WAIPAWA SEAT.
AN INVITATION DECLINED.
(Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, October 14
Commenting on an invitation from prominent farmers and business men o Waipawa to contest the forthcoming by-election, Mr R. M. Algie, of Auckland, organiser of the New Zealand Freedom Association, said he naturally regarded the invitation as a very great compliment. However, the council o the Freedom Association unanimously felt that a non-resident candidate, it elected, could not do full justice to the district where farming interests were of such outstanding importance. It also felt that work in Parliament would, under present circumstances, interfere with, and perhaps prejudice the work of the association, wine i was needed more than ever to-day.
