PUBLIC SAFETY.
NEW REGULATION RESENTED. BUILDING TIRADES REPLY. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON. October 14. The executive of the Building Trades Federation, replying to the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser’s criticism of the resolution passed on Saturday, said Mr Fraser’s {references tot Fascism and .Nazism, imply that building trade workers are not wholeheartedly opposed to these forces. This is refuted. Desiring unreservedly the defeat of Fascism, the workers believe that such methods as are contemplated in the latest Public Safety Emergency Regulation will not assist i'n its defeat. The executive contradicts Mr Fraser’s suggestion that the industrial movement fully agrees with the regulation. “At least 30 organisations have vigorously protested, and no amount of abuse can hide this fact.” The executive adds that Mr Eraser appears to resent oppositioni to tin? regulation because the Federation of Labour has not yet protested, a'nd says demands have been made already that the Federation interview the Cabinet urging the repeal of the regulation.
