TWO N.Z. PILOTS MISSING.

ONE FORMERLY OF ASHBURTON

(Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, October 6. The following air casualties were announced at week-end: — Sergeant Colin Mackenzie Laird, E.N.Z.A.F., missing on air operations. His mother is Mrs J. Laird, 15 Pai’kes Avenue, St. Johns Hill, Wanganui. Pilot Officer Harry Wright Morgan, missing on. air operations. His sisteir is Mrs T. H. Pilbrow, Oxford, North Canterbury. Pilot Officer Morgan was a pupil of the Ashburton, High School in 192,7. He later went on to Christ’s College. His father was the late Captain W. A. Morgan j of Mount Somers.

NEW PLYMOUTH AIR GUNNER’S DEATH. NEW PLYMOUTH, October 6. Information, has been received by Mr and Mrs D. A. Hughes, of Riverlea, South Taranaki, of the death of their son. Sergeant Air Gunner Dia.vid Ernest Hughes, in a flying accident in England on October 3. Sergeant Hughes left New Zealand three months ago after training here.

KILLED IN ACCIDENT,

EDUCATED 1 AT ASHBURTON. Cabled advice was received yesterday that Flying Office]’ Willis Stewart Brown,, son of Mr and- Mrs D. C. Brown, 178 Hastings Street, Christchurch, has been killed in a, flying accident at Rhodesia. He was a, pilot instructor with the Royal Air Force at Salisbury. Flying Officer Brown, was aged 25. He was educated at the Waimate High School, the- Ashburton High School in 1928 and at Canterbury University College, which lie left in 1936 to join the Royal Air Force.
