FRUIT AND PRODUCE. THE ASHBURTON MARKET. Prices at the fruit and produce market at Ashburton on Friday were as follow: Cabbages—4d to 6d. Chaff—6s 6d to 7s 6d a sack. Potatoes—ls 9cl sugar-bag, 4s sack. Wheat—lßs, 20s to 22s a sack. Honey—9d to Is lb. Onions—l-Jcl and 2d lb, 5s 6d to 6s a sugar-bag. Apples—'Delicious 325, Sturmers 8s to 10s, cookers 7s 6’d. There has been little activity in any section of the grain and produce xnarv yet this week. The spring wheat sowing, which was delayed in some parts of the province by unfavourable weather, is practically complete. It has been impossible to sow some areas which were intended for wheat, particularly in the Ellesmere district, and earlier estimates of a total area of 300,000 acres have had to be revised. Growers are reminded that the last day for forwarding current season’s f.a.q. milling wheat is November 30. Wheat, held after that date will miss the final payment of 3d a bushel for this season’s crop. •No announcement has been made about further export of potatoes to Australia, and little interest is being taken in the market. The following are quotations to farmers on trucks at country sidings, unless otherwise indicated: Wheat—Milling, f.o.b. Tuscan, 5s lid, Hunters 6s Id," Pearl Os 3d, Marquis 6s sd. (Final payment of 3d a busker oh all wheat at the end of the year). Oats—A Gartons 3s 9d to 4s, B’s 3s 3d "tb 3s, 6d; Algerians 3s 6d to 3s 9d; Duns 4s to. 4s 6d, according to sample. Ryegrass—Perennial and Italian 6s to 7s, according to sample. Cocksfoot—9d (nominal). White clover—2s to 2s sd. Red Clover—ls to Is 4d. Partridge Peas l —6s 9d to 7s. Ohaff-r—£s (nominal).
