BOMB HITS HISTORIC CASTLE
t (United Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, October 4. London to-day experienced its longest daylight warning, a single plane continuing to circle overhead, mostly in the suburbs, where a number of incendiaries were dropped. Six raiders this afternoon dive-bombed the south-east centre, directly hitting the front of an historic castle. It demolished two streets, and craters were left in several roadways. There was a number of fatalities. A solitary bomber dropped two whistling bombs on a southeast coastal town, smashing church windows and causing several fatal casualties. Raiders in the morning dropped a number of explosives in the lower reaches of the Thames.
