LONGEST RAID YET.

TARGETS IN BERLIN.

CHANNEL PORTS AGAIN BOMBED.

LONDON, October 1

The long arm of the Royal Air Force stretched over Berlin again last night. The Air Ministry’s report so far gives no details, but merely announces that Berlin was among the objectives of the night’s operations. Neutral agency reports from Berlin, however, state that the residents of the city had their longest alarm of the. war, and wore forced to spend five hours and eight minutes in their shelters.

The German invasion ports were again heavily bombed. Watchers on the Channel coast heard heavy explosions, which continued at short intervals for a long time during theniglrtx . * ' The main attacks seemed to be delivered on Calais and the German biggun emplacements at Cape Gris Nez. At least 25 of these guns are known to be mounted on the French coast between Calais and Boulogne. ■ Not one aspect of the vast and complicated German war machine can escape the raids of the Royal Air Force. Factories, oil and petrol refineries and supplies, railways for the transport of raw materials and troops, aerodromes from which raids on England begin, and the invasion bases on the Channel which are so vital to Germany’s war plans—all these vital points were bombed on Sunday night.
