SHOOTING.
GUN CLUB MATCH. The home-and-home match between the Methven and Ellesmere Gun Clubs /was fired at Methven on Saturday afternoon in drizzly weather. This is the second of the series held this season, and the cup donated by the local club was won by a narrow margin of one point by Methven. The conditions of the match were 15 clay birds off 16 yards on the 5-track system 10 men a-side). The Methven team scored 132, the individual scores being: Holland 13, S. H. Anderson 14. G. A. Franks 14, McLeod 13, J. T. Corbitt 13, F. Quested 13, J. S. McHugh 14, L. C. Anderson 13, T. S. Harrison 14, R. L. Haskett 11. Ellesmere scores were: W. J. Patterson 15, I. Mawson 14, A. Greenwood 11, C. Gilbert 14, W. L. Donald 13, C. Chamberlain 10, T. Gordon 14, G.
M. Doyle 11, L. Chambers 14, L. C Lemon 14.
The sweepstake attached was divided by Patterson and Lemon, with 15 breaks, and those with 14 divided the balance of the money. Twenty shootei-s took part in a 5bird 5-track sweepstake, and Franks, McLeod, Quested, Doyle, Greenwood, Lemon, Mawson, Holland, Jatterson and L. Chambers divided the money. In a 16-clay-bird match, off handicap marks, for a sweepstake, McLeod, Patterson, Quested and Doyle divided the money after shooting the possible. The next best were S. H. Anderson, Franks, Corbitt, Greenwood, Chambers, Lemon, Harrison, Gilbert, Chamberlain and Gordon, who all broke 14 birds. In the final match, a. first-miss-out sweepstake, T. Gordon won on the 9th round and took first, money. Corbitt and Doyle (8 breaks) divided the balance.
