A DIRECT HIT.
ON THE QUAY AT CALAIS. BRITISH LONG-RANGE GUNS. (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, September 30. British long-range guns again shelled France shortly, before dawn. A direct bit is believed to have been scored on the quayside at Calais, where a big fire blazed for some time.
The German guns replied, firing four salvoes at 20-minute intervals. A jrnan was killed and several people seriously injured, and premises damaged when Dover was shelled.
