KUROW JOCKEY CLUB. SILVER STREAK SUCCESSFUL. (Per Press Association). OAMARU, September 28. The weather outlook was rather ominous on Saturday morning, but the sky cleared and the Kurow Jockey Club’s meeting at Oamaru was held under fairly good conditions. The turnover for the day was £18,561 10s, compared with £BOBI last season, when that meeting also was held at Oamaru. At Kurow in 1938 the amount turned over was £3983. Concluding results:—

T. A. Munro Handicap, of £135; seven furlongs—s (5) Silver Streak 8.3 (P. Spratt) 1, 3 (3) Straightdell 7.6 (L. Hare) 2,2 (2) Night Pal 7.6 (Sellers). Won by three lengths; a length between second and third. Time, 1.26 2-5.
Hakataramea Trot, of £120; 3.1 class; li miles—3 (3) Irish Dusk scr (P Gallagher) 1,2 (2) Sabu scr (D. Teahen) 2, 5 (5) Mirage scr (Brinsdon) 8. Won by two lengths from Irish Dusk. A protest against Sabu for boring in the straight was upheld and the placings were reversed. Mirage was three lengths back. Times, 2.48 2-5, 2.48 4-5, 2.49 4-5. Racin°' at Rosehill on Saturday ie vo a led another Derby possibility in the Marconigram colt Scientist, who won the Hawkesbury Grand Handicap an a courageous finish with Binnia *~ ei ° and Malagigi in which less than halt a length separated the trio. Nightbeam caused a surprise by winning the Rowley Mile narrowly from Clouston and Bourbon. That consistent colt Ensign set, a cracking pace in the Quality Handicap, spreadeagling the good field to win by two lengths from Katanga and Delniestor.
Showing that High Caste improves with racing, he won the Clarendon Stakes comfortably from Buzalong and St. Constant. Chief results were:—• Clarendon Stakes, of £400; wciglit-for-age; nine furlongs—High Caste (N.Z.) 9.0 (Bartle) 1, Buzalong 9.1 (Shean) 2, St. Constant 9.4 (McMenamin) 3. There were six starters.
