Arriving jluring a raid on Friday morning Their Majesties visited a north-west London suburb which had been damaged by bombs. While Their Majesties were looking at a crater in the middle of a green surrounded by damaged houses, antiaircraft shells began to burst above. A crowd of several hundred who assembled to welcome Their Majesties, were asked by the police to take cover. The King and Queen, with obvious reluctance, entered a car and were driven off to continue their visits in another part of London.
