FARMERS’ UNION.
THE ASHBURTON BRANCH. The Ashburton branch of the New Zealand farmers’ Union met this afternoon. the president (Mr J. H. Harper) presiding. The New Zealand Executive forwarded a circular containing a copy of a letter which the Transport Department had sent to all its Inspectors: “In connection with the drive for increased cheese production farmers are in many casesr carrying milk and whey to or from the factory for their neighbours at a charge. It is pointed out that in terms of the Transport Goods Order, 1936, Amendments No. 2, such cartage is exempted from the requirements of a license under the Transport Goods Order.” Mr C. H. B. Li 11 said the Standaijdijii Institute >ad s*et the size! of the woolpack at 42 inches without consulting users. He wondered if a protest could again he made. was stated that protests had already been made. The Loan and Investment Soeiety was congratulated on its new buildingvand it was decided to hold meetings in the Board room. Mr 11. Bratley was appointed to the organisers’ committee.
