MADE DETERMINED ATTACKS. (Received This. Day, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, September 17. ; .Flying-Officer Brian George Carhury, of Wellington,. and Pilot-Officer Michael James Herrick, of Hastings, have been awai’ded the D.F.C.

The citations say that Flying-Officer Carbury "led a section against two planes . operating on the north-east coast, destroying both. He was almost continually engaged from • August 28 to September 2 against large ,enemy raids over Kent. He destroyed eight enemy planes, Five were brought .down in three successive engagements in one day. Pilot-Officer Herrick, during an interception patrol on September 4, destroyed two planes, , succeeding in closing up to within 30 yards of the second, which fell to pieces under his fire.
