NO WARTIME RACING.

SUGGESTION' BY FARMERS.

(Per Press Association). DANNEVJRKE, July 26,

The Southern Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Union discussed the abolition of all forms of racing during war time, including greyhound racing. Proposing a motion to that effect, Mr J. M. Wright said that oats, being put down the necks of racehorses, could be used for better purpose. Racing dogs should be destroyed and the carcases used for feeding poultry and the skins in making coats for men in the minesweepers.

Alter a discussion, during which reference was made to the effect on Government revenue, the motion was carried in the form of a recommendation to the Council of Primary Production for consideration of the suggestion.
