WOMAN LEAVES £2OOO. (Per Press Association). AViEILLTNGTON, July 26. The Minister for Finance (the Hon. AY. Nash) said tc-dav that £2OOO had been bequeathed to the New Zealand Government under tho will of Airs H. Y. Bayly, of Auckland. The will stated that' the sum is “to bo applied towards defraying the expenses of the present war against Germany and her allies. The action of Mrs Bayly in making this provision was much appreciated by the Government, said the Minister. He felt that her relatives would be proud that she was the first to make such a fine gesture. Tlic.total of interest-free loans and donations- is now £2,410,197. Among the interest-free loans are: Anonymous (Hamilton), £15,000 for the duration and six months; New Plymouth Harbour Board, £5000; Invercargill Building .Society, £2OOO.
