WHALE TOWS TRAWLER

SYDNEY, July 10. James K. Owens, owner and master of the small trawler, Helen Dawn, had a frightening experience off the south coast of New South Wales when a 50tt whale became entangled in the lines of his net. Owens said: “When it first started to tow me along I thought it was a su )- marine. 1 was relieved to find it was only a whale.” . Owens was hauling off an lslanc when the whale fouled the lines and began to tow the ship against her engines. The whale towed the ship for several hours before becoming exhausted. Owens then started to tow Ins catch to Ulladulla, 12 miles away. Wlien entering Ulladulla Harbour, the whale revived and broke itftav.
