FARMERS’ UNION.

THE ASHBURTON BRANCH. DISTRICT PASTURE CONTEST. The Ashburton branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union met this afternoon, the president (Mr J. H. Harper) presiding. A report was received from the District Pasture Competition executive pealing with the competition, and asking that committees be set up in districts to organise district competitions. Mr P. J. Mouat said he did not think there would be a single entry from liis district. The setting up of a committee to run the Ashburton district competition was left over till the next meeting. Following a brief discussion on petrol fuel for tractors, Mr W. H. Amos (secretary), also a member of the local Oii Fuel Committee, assured members that sufficient petrol would be available to farmers.
