RED CROSS SOCIETY.

ACTIVITIES. AT HAMPSTEAD. The fortnightly meeting of the Hampstead sub-Centre of the Red Cross Society was held in the Memorial Hall. There was a fair attendance of members. A letter from Mrs W. H. Bundle) was read, asking for a parcel of old linen for bandages, etc. It was thought that the best way to obtain a good collection was to canvass the district. It was decided that Mr S. G. Maclarlnno he approached as members thought that with his permission a drive could lie conducted by the pupils at. Ashburton East School and Miss Rose could collect the parcels from the school.

ft was decided that members meet in the hall on Thursday to make bandages. Mrs McEachon reported that there had been a good response to the sale of tickets for the concert on Wednesday with several promises of goods for the auction sale. 'She also reported that arrangements were well in hand for the children’s dance on Saturday. Several gifts qf supper had been received. BAZAAR AT CHERTSEY. Nearly £I.OO was raised at a bazaar held at Chortsey for Red Cross funds. Messrs F. Ironside and W. TI. Wilkinson conducted community singing, and Mrs H. Chapman’s concert party from Ashburton gave items.
