GROWING LINEN FLAX.

INSPECTION OF LAND OFFERED. COMPLETION THIS WEEK Ther Department of Agriculture in Ashburton has been busy during the last fortnight inspecting areas of land in the County offered for the growing of linen flax. A considerable area has already been passed as suitable and about another 500 acres remains to he examined, and it is hoped to complete this by the end of the w’oek. Lhnd has been rejected because it is either too light or is growing too many weeds. Further offers of land arc still required ,according to a statement made to-day by the Instructor in Agriculture in Ashburton (Mr G. K. ‘McPherson). The site of the factory lor the treatment of flax has not yet been fixed, but it is certain to be in the Methven district.
