“NINOTCHKA.”

■ 1 ' I GARBO IN SPICY LUBITSCH COMEDY. Carnival night in Paris! Laughter! Gay music! Smart people on the boulevards! Imagine the scene. Imagine a woman, reared in a stern code that taught her to dress plainly and to avoid all pleasures, suddenly thrown into this whirl of gaiety! This is what happens to Greta Garbo in her newest picture, “Ninotchka,’’ in which she plays an ultra-modern woman for the first time after a long series of historical pictures. Crammed with whimsical moments, sparkling with clever dialogue, and touched with tiro deft humour of Ernst Lubitscb, its director, it presents a happy Garbo in a modern, happy play. Melvyn Douglas plays opposite the star.
