HONOUR FOR SEADOWN BOY. ~ SAVED LIVES OF GREW, WELLINGTON, June 12. Flyin@ ; Officer T.lB. Fitzgerald, of Seadownj near Timaru, has been awarded the D.F.O. for daring and successful. work at Sedan and for effecting, a safe landing, thus saving the lives of his crew although himself wounded. The (D.F.O. has .been awarded to Flying Officer L. R. Clisby, who comes from McLaren Vale*, South Australia. During April, minting one of three. Hurricanes which attacked nine Messerschmitt 109’s, he shot down one aind the next day destroyed another. •In May he. engaged in six combats in which he shot down eight enemy machines. Enlisting in the Royal Air Force in 1935, Flying Officer Clisby was commissioned in August, 1937. He is now reported missing.
