MEETINGS AND EVENTS. URGENT APPEAL TO FARMERS. GROWING OF LINEN FLAX. IN view of the urgent’need for fibre to supply England’s war requirements, a strong appeal is made to Mid-Canter-bury Farmers to attend a meeting in the A. and P. HALL, METHVEN. On FRIDAY NEXT, Pith JUNE, At 8 p.m. Mr R. R. Tennant, Director of Pri-, mary Production, will outline the proposed programme. In connection with the,growing of a large acreage of Linen Flax, all farmers are urged to be present to learri how they can contribute to Britain’s war effort. Farmers with the type of land suitable for ordinary linseed, i.e., land with a clay sub-soil, are directly concerned.
