KING LEOPOLD’S JEWELS. PARIS, May 31. The newspaper “Paris Soir’ > says that five days ago two motor-cars arrived in France bearing King Leopold s private jewels and crown, which were accompanied by the Royal Chamberlain. In the early hours of last Tuesday, before the capitulation was announced, the Chamberlain tried to get back the jewels and crown, but the authorities declined until he completed the neces--1 sary formalities. By then it was too late to recover the property, which has now been removed to a place of safety.

KING’S COUSIN KILLED.

King George’s first cousin, Lord Frederick Cambridge, aged 33, brother and heir to the Marquess of Cambridge, is reported killed in action. He accompanied the Coldstream Guards overseas. Lord Frederick Cambridge held the rank of captain in the 'Coldstream Guards. Before his entry upon active service he was an aide-de-camp to the Governor-General of Australia (Lord Gowrie). He is a son of Queen Alary’s brother, the first Marquess of Cambridge. FRENCH MAYOR DISMISSED. WRONGFUL EVACUATION.

(Received This Day, 8.55 a.m.) PARIS, May 31. The Mayor of Corbeil, a suburb of Paris, has been dismissed for evacuating the district. Heavier punishment may follow.
