King Leopold is reported to.have informed President Roosevelt of ' the deliberate bombing by Germans of an American hospital at Qstend yesterday.. All the, doctors- and ‘ nurses and 200 patients were killed within a few minutes. Eye-witnesses say that thie building was blown to bits in a few seconds. Another wave of bombers dropped incendiary bombs on the wreckage.

INTENSIVE PRECAUTIONS. LONDON, May 27. The Zurich correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says that the possibility of invasion is in every mind, but there is no panic. Switzerland already has been most efficiently fortified. At least 800,000 men are guarding the frontiers, and in the interior drastic measures have been taken to prevent sabotage. ■ Every point open to attack is heavily guarded, and the signposts removed from the roads. The Government has broadcast instructions how to deal with parachute troops.

A TIRING ENEMY.

BELGIANS HOLD POSITIONS.

A French Army spokesman said this morning that the Allied troops were now “all out,” and were .winning fresh successes against a tiring enemy. The Paris newspapers declare that the Allied recovery is becoming more and more evident.

One report states that Courtrai lias fallen, but on the coast the Allies are still holding Calais, in the face of heavy onslaughts by .German tanks. Further east, violent fighting is reported at Dinant. The Belgians held their positions and captured 500 prisoners.
