FRUIT AND PRODUCE. THE ASHBURTON MARKET. Prices at the fruit and produce market at Ashburton on Friday were as follow: Cabbages—4d to 9d. Chaff—6s 6d to 7s 6d a sack. Potatoes —2s 6d and 3s a sugar-bag. Wheat—lßs and 20s a sack. Honey—Bd and 9d a lb., Onions—New season’s l£d and 2d lb, 5s 6d to 6s a sugar-bag, Bacon—lOd and Is a lb.
Apples—New season’s 5s 6d and 6s 6d, Cox’s Orange 10s to 12s; Jonathans 6s and 6s 6d, cookers 5s and 5s 6d. Lettuce —2d and 3d each. Marrows —4d and 6d each. Shallots—3d lb. Duchess Pears—2-J-d and 3£d lb. . Pears—Winter Cole, 2)d and 3d lb. Cauliflowers—4d, 6d, and 8d each. Carrots—2s 6d sugar-bag.
GRAIN AND PRODUCE. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Business in the grain, seed, and produce markets has been quiet over the latter part of the week, with little change in values. Heavy rain in some districts has again interrupted the sowing of seed wheat, but with a continuance of fine weather it should he possible for most farmers to proceed with the work early next week." There has been little activity in potatoes, which remain nominally at £3, to which they eased earlier in the week. The following quotations are to farmers on trucks at country sidings, unless otherwise indicated:
Wheat—Milling, f.0.b., Tuscan 5s Bd, Hunters 5s lOd, Pearl 6s, Marquis 6s 2d. (Final payment of 3d a bushel on ail wheat at the end of the year). Oats—A. Gartons 3s 9d to 4s, B’s 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; Algerians 3s 6d to 3s 9d; Duns 4s to 4s 6d. Ryegrass—Perennial and Italian 6s to 7s, according to sample. Cocksfoot—9d (nominal). White Clover —2s to 2s sd. Red Clover —Is to Is 4d. Partridge Peas—6s 9d to 7s. Chaff—£6. Barley—Malting, ex stack, 4s 101 d, e> stook 4s 7Sd; Cape, 4s to 4s 6d; black, 6s to 6s 3d. Potatoes —£3 (nominal). Onions—£7 (sacks extra). Linseed—f.a.q. £25.
