THE NEW WHEAT.
CONDITIONS OF SALE OF SEED. ONLY A SMALL QUANTITY. (Spinal to the “ Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. In the conditions governing life sale and growing of the new File-Tuscsm wheat they state that as only 500 bushels are available it is necessary to release the seed only to approved growers in suitable localities. A selection committee, consisting of representatives of the North Canterbury Grain Merchants’ Association, the Department of Agriculture,, the "Wheat Research Institute, and Lincoln College will consider applications for seed and the applications should be made through the merchants not later than next Tuesday. For this season, the seed will be distributed only to "groweds in Mid and North Canterbury, and it should be sown as soon as possible —not held over for the spring sowing. The seed must be grown in paddocks which have not produced wheat or barley in the last season, and all areas must be entered for certification with the Department of Agriculture. The conditions of certification provide that a complete fiekty must be sown in the one variety. The price to farmers is 30s a basket on trucks, Lincoln (sacks extra), machine dressed and treated. If the crop passes the certification test, the grower ■will receive 7s 9d f.0.b., hut if it is not certified but equal to fair average quality for milling the grower will bo paid 5s 9d, f.o.b. It. is emphasised that early application should be made for seed.
