Flock No. 1161, S.S.S.N.Z.) On Account of J. S. Gimblett, Hastings, and H. J. Andrew, Maheno. In 1935 at the Sale of Imported Southdowns, Mr Hunt purchased an English Royal Show prize-winning ram “Upper .Swell” 25 of 34 bred by W. E, H. Hebblethwaite, England, who used the sheep in his stud as a lamb when he sired the prize-winning rams at the Oxfordshire and Three Counties Show. This ram “nicked” particularly well with the Pariroa, Gimblett and Punchbowl ewes, leaving a high proportion of stud sires, two of which, Nos 14/36 and 50/36, have been used with great success in the stud The sheep have 'beautiful heads, long level backs with ideal lowset bodies. Their constitutions are second to none, due to being reared amongst the Central Otago mountains at a high altitude. This Sale affords what is probably the last opportunity of obtaining selected Pariroa bred ewes and their progeny.
