The slang expression “to have cold feet,” has its. origin in the idea of being chilled, miserable and so lacking the spirit to g»o. on. The Expression became popular during the War of 1914-18, although it had been used at the end of the nineteenth century. Most slang phrases havo parallels in other languages, but there is no ■ foreign parallel to “cold, feet.” In horticulture “cold feet” 'is. used to describe the condition of plants due to excessive watering without proper- drainage.
