BIG GERMAN GUN.
RANGE OF 160 MILES. LONDON, January 31. Germany has built a gun capable of shelling London from the Continent, according to a report from Belgium. Tests carried out in the Baltic are said to have proved that the gun has <* range of 160 miles. Fired at an angle of 70 degrees, the shell reaches a height of 37 miles and travels 124 miles in the Stratosphere 1 before falling. German- engineers are said to have prepared plans for the bombardment of England should Germany seize Holland. German experts favour, a site on \\ alcheren Island, off the Dutch coast. A special railway would he needed to transport the gun from the mainland to the islandi- The principal Belgian and Dutch cities could be shelled from Germany. The wot'ld’s previous biggest gun was Big Bertha, with which the Germans • shelled Paris in 1918.
