SMOKE CONCERT.
SOCIETY OF RAILWAY SERVANTS FUNCTION AT ASHBURTON. Proposing the toast of "The Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants” at the annual smoke concert of the Ashburton brgnch, on- Saturday evening, Mr J. Brown spoke of the excellent work the "Society was doing. It had a strong organisation, he said, and had the interests of its members ae heart.., . The toast list was .as follows: —"The King” ; "The Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants” (Mr J. Brown —Mr G E. Williams and Mr J. Ward); "Superannuated Members” (Mr W O’Neil —Mr J. Osborne); "Kindred Societies” (Mr R.. Gemmell —Messrs E. Perrin, N. Walsh and A. Gallop), "The Soldiers” (Mr IT. Pago—Mr G Commons anUT Mr A. Taylor); "The Ladies” (Mr C. Bradley—Mr M. Coliogan and Mr Gemmell). Items were given by the following: —Messrs IT. Page, J. Ward, G. Williams, R. Flat-man, M. Oollogan, J. Moloney, W O’Neil, W. McAndrow, and C. Hansen.
