HONOURED BY UNIVERSITY. (Per Press Association). "WELLINGTON, January 15. The conferring of the honorary degree of Doctor of Science on Sir George Alfred Julius, 8.E., ,M. 1., Mech.E., M.1.E., Australia, was decided upon by the Senate of the University of New Zealand to-day in recognition of his distinguished services in the field of applied sciences, particularly engineering and economics. Sir George Julius, who is a son of the late Archbishop Julius, is chairman of the Commonwealth Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. This is the fifth such award in the 70 years of the University’s existence.
