ST. JAMES THEATRE. “THE HARDY’S DID® HIGH” AND ‘ ‘ ATT DIOSCOiPIKS. ’ ’ The return of the favourite “Hardy' family in their latest adventure “The Hardy’s Ride*High,” was accorded to capacity audiences on Saturday, and patrons were loud, in praiso on the entertainment provided, not only in the ■•Hardy” film, but also with the supporting programme. The now picture is different in every respect from the, others, hut the beloved Hardys remain the same. Now they inherit 2,000,0(X) dollars and their reaction to this sudden change makes hilarious fun. Featured in the cast’are Mickey Rooney, Lewis Stone, Cecilia Parker, Eay Holden, Ann Rutherford, Sara Haden and Virginia Grey. The associate programme includes the latest news services, a Robert Benchlcy comedy, “A Day of Rest,” a Crime" Does Not Pay, “Think First.” and the third dimension sound film sensation “Audioscopiks” with sparkling commentary by Pete .Smith, was puncuated hv shrieks of delight. Special glasses to view this, novelty are supplied free by the management. A matinee will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow', Tuesday, and the extended season definitely closes on Wednesday night. SCOTTISH SOCIETY DANCE. The Ashburton County Scottish Society again had a most successful dance on Saturday night. Music for dancing was supplied by Cook’s Orchestra. Extras were played by Mr 1. Shearer. Winners of Monte Carlo were Mrs F. McNicoll and Mr C. Chambers, Mrs Amos and Mr Hilt. ttl.C’s were Mr W. Tate and T. McGregor.
