Canterbury grain, seed and produce markets continue to be very quiet, with very little business passing in any section and practically all quotations'more or less nominal. Concerning the supply of corn sacks for the coming season, it is emphasised that all neW sacks now in New Zealand are being held for wheat so that wheatgrowers may be assured of a plentiful supply for their harvest. This course is., being taken as a precaution against delay in the arrival of the NovemberDecember shipment. The following quotations are to farmers bn trucks at country sidings, unless otherwise vindicated:— f.o.b., Tuscan 5s lid; Hunters 6s Id; Pearl, 6s 3d. (Final payment of 3d a bushel on all wheat at the end of year.) Oats—A Cartons to 3s, B’s 2s lOd, Algerians 3s to 3s 9d, Duns 3s 6d to 4s 6d. Ryegrass (gcod germination—Perennial up to 5s 6d (nominal), Italian up to 4s to 4s 6d (nominal). Cocksfoot—6d to 7a (nominal). White Clover —Is to is 3d per lb. Red Clover —Old season’s 4d to 6a per lb; new season’s, 7d. Chaff— £4 5s to £4 7s 6d a ton. Barley—'Malting 4s 7£d, feed 3s to 3s 6d a bushel,, according to quality.
