The name “Dragoons’' is supposed to have derived from dragon, “because mounted-" on horseback with lighted m-ftt-eb-die -seemeth life; a fiery dragon. ’ The Dragons were horse-soldiers, who bore dragons for ensigns. The first regiment of Dragoons was raised in England, it is believed, in IGBI.
