Fiftsf STEPS IN TRAINING. OFFICERS AND NON-COMS. WELLINGTON, This (Dux. The first step* in the preparation of the Maori battalion for active service was taken to-day when 150 Maori recruits entered the army school at Trentham to train as commissioned and non-commissioned officers. An intensive course of instruction will prepare them to talc© over their units when men for the ranks are called up for training- early in the New Year. The departure of the Nineteenth Wellington Battalion for Waiouru to undergo' a fortnight’s advance field training has been postponed till next Saturday.
