CROQUET.
NEW LAWN AT ALLENTON. The Allenton Sports Club has decided to lay down a new lawn at its grounds in order to .relieve the congestion which at present causes a good deal of inconvenience. The executive of the Club met on Thursday evening, the president (Mr E. C. Bathurst) presiding. It was .stated that there was a great deal of congestion on the croquet lawn on Saturday afternoon, and after discussion it was decided to prepare a. new lawn. The president was left
to make arrangements for securing labour for the work. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to Mr M. P. Cooke, formerly secretary to the club. Mr N. Robilliard was appointed secretary in his place. Mr J. Wilkinson was appointed to represent the bowling section, *and Miss N. Upton and Mr W. Allan the tennis section, on the executive. It was decided to convert the halfsize croquet lawn into a women’s oneway bowling green. Mr E. S. Chambers, at his own request, was transferred to the honorary membership list.
